Avoid the following when buying new office furniture.

4 Things Not to Do When Buying Office Furniture

Place the bottom line ahead of quality.

The bottom line is an important factor in every purchasing decision. But when you sacrifice the quality of furniture for the bottom line, you’ll inevitably regret it. Low quality furniture is less comfortable and less durable, meaning employees will be less productive, and the furniture won’t last as long. While you might save on the bottom line initially, you’ll lose more than you would have saved as a result of lost productivity and the need for furniture repairs/the need to buy new furniture altogether.

Not trying before you buy.

You’re going to be sitting in the office chair at your desk for a long time, so it makes sense to try before you buy. Even if this takes a little extra effort and time, it will be well worth it in the long run. Try lots of different pieces to find the furniture that best fits the needs of your office and employees.

Not getting employee input.

Speaking of employees, it’s very important to get employee input during the decision-making process when buying office furniture. Ask employees how the current furniture fits their needs. In what ways does it meet their needs? In what ways is it lacking? What are their needs for new office furniture?

Not matching.

Aesthetics is another consideration that’s important to make when buying office furniture. A good way to ensure you’re getting furniture that matches across the board is to buy from the same manufacturer. This also goes back to trying things in person, as they will look different in person than they will online.
